Convert one coin to another
Swap one coin for another at a quoted rate on the Convert page. Pick the coins, enter an amount, check the quote and confirm.
Use Convert to swap one coin for another at a quoted rate. Choose the two coins, enter an amount, check the quote and confirm. It's the simplest way to change one coin into another without placing a trading order.
How to convert
- Log in and make sure you hold the coin you want to convert. If you don't, deposit it or buy it with a card first.
- Open Convert.
- Choose the coin you're converting from and the coin you want to receive.
- Enter the amount.
- Check the quoted rate and how much you'll receive.
- Confirm.
Your new balance shows in Wallet and on your Dashboard.
Convert or spot trade?
Both get you from one coin to another. Which to use depends on how much control you want.
- Convert is quick: you see one quoted rate and accept it. It suits simple, one-off swaps.
- Spot trading on Trade lets you choose a market order, which fills straight away at the best available price, or a limit order, which waits for the price you set. See Order types: market and limit.
To compare, look up the pair's price on Markets or Trade before you convert.
What Convert doesn't do
- It doesn't send coins off Trade Llama. For that, see Withdraw funds.
- It doesn't move funds between your accounts. Use Transfer in Wallet. See Transfer between your accounts.
- It doesn't use leverage or borrowing. You can only convert what you hold.
If something goes wrong
If a conversion doesn't go through, check that you hold enough of the coin you're converting from, then try again with a fresh quote. If your balances look wrong afterward, check the transaction history in Wallet and see Get help with your account.
